The Business English course is for adults with or without business experience who wish to learn or improve their level of English language for career or work purposes in small groups of no more than 6.


The Business Intensive course is for adults who want to combine their study of English for business in small groups with individual lessons.

Is this Business English course right for you?

By following this course you will:

  • Improve your fluency and increase your confidence when speaking about a variety of business related-topics
  • Improve your general level of English
  • Develop your knowledge of language (grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation) in the context of general business topics
  • Develop core language skills which are necessary for business such as listening, speaking, reading and business writing

What will you study?

Your teacher carries out a needs analysis with your group on the first day of your course to define the course objectives. You may choose to focus on expanding your business vocabulary, to increase your grammar awareness or improve your pronunciation to become more easily understood when conducting business with other non-native speakers of English. Topics are varied and depend on your professional needs. You may wish to discuss the latest financial headlines,  exchange opinions on business ethics or learn the language of job interviews in English. You discuss business case studies and participate in role-plays such as negotiations and meetings which give you the opportunity to improve fluency in real-life  business settings.

What options does the programme offer?

You may choose from either:

  • a Business English 20 course (20 lessons of 45 minutes each per week) or
  • a Business Intensive course (20 lessons of 45 minutes each per week  + 10 individual private lessons per week)

There are a maximum of 6 learners in the ESE Business English course.

While most other English language courses offered at European School of English are offered at all levels, we recommend that to enrol in one of our Business English courses you should be at least of Elementary level (A2 on the  Common European Framework Reference scale).

While studying Business English at ESE in Malta, you follow the course at the right level for you because our academic staff determines your language level either through the ESE online placement test (which must be submitted at least 14 days before you start your course) or through a short test which you sit for on your first day at school.

You can continue to improve your English through self-study by accessing our e-Learning programme from the time you enrol until three months after you finish your course.
